Report Sharing Event on Women Friendly Safe Workplace

Gender-based violence remains one of the most tolerated violations of workers’ human rights. According to statistics, globally 35% of women over the age of 15 have experienced sexual or physical violence at their communities or in the workplace. In Bangladesh,Gender Based Violence (GBV) in workplace is a common phenomenon both in the formal and in the informal sector. And, there are ample evidences of violence against women.

In this backdrop, ActionAid Bangladesh is going to share a study report titled ‘Gender-based Violence at Workplaces: Analysis of the Existing Laws in Bangladesh’ on 4 May, Saturday, at 10 AM at Gulshan Shooting Club, Gulshan-1, Dhaka. The study will be shared at the launching event of a three-years campaign on ‘Women Friendly Safe Workplace’. Following personalities will enlighten the session:

A study shows that 22 per cent of female garment workers in Bangladesh face physical, psychological and sexual harassment at workplace or on the way to/from the workplace. And 67 per cent of them do not seek support for lack of trust in the prevention body.

Through the new campaign titled Women Friendly Safe Workplace, AAB aims to address and challenge sexual and gender-based violence at work places, in both formal and informal sectors.
